Matto's music and life
2005 UpdateIt's been so long since an update that I almost forgot this site even exists.
Since the last update, my collection of Cyber Trance albums has increased significantly, culminating in the excellent The Cyber Trance 3rd Chapter album which I bought in HMV in OPA in Shinsaibashi.
OPAOfficially (at least for me)
OPA is the best building in the world. If you are a woman then there are some great fashion shops to spend your cash in, if you are man, you will enjoy seeing some of the most fashionable women in Osaka!
Sony PSPI just read that although the US release is imminent, the UK and Europe release is now likely to be the summer. This isn't a problem as
Bic Camera got their 25900 yen out of me back in February. I must improve my gaming performance though, especially on Minna no Golf which I am frustratingly inconsistent!
Music UpdateWhile almost abandoning conventional Japanese pop music during 2004, I have in fact bought 2 new Jpop CDs for the first time since 2001. The first was Hitomi Yaida's Yaiko Selection and the second was BoA's Best Of Soul.
This is in addition to two trance CDs I bought, which are in the following chart of what I am currently listening to (notice that there is not a great diversity anymore)
1. Super Best Trance 2
2. Andy C Drum & Bass Arena Mix 2
3. Quake Trance Presents The Annual Spring 2005
4. Yoji Biomehanika - Hardhouse Overdose
5. The Cyber Trance 3rd Chapter
6. BoA - Best Of Soul
7. Kid Q - This Feeling
8. Dillinja & Lemon D - Big Bad Bass Mix
9. Minmi - Imagine
10. Velfarre Cyber Trance 10
Festive Season
The last entry before this was in the twilight of the summer and now it is near the festive season. What has happened since then? Well not so much except listening to a lot of great music past and present.
Here are some of what has been going through the speakers over the past couple of months.
1. Hybrid - Presents Y4K
2. Paul Van Dyk - Reflections
3. Faith No More - Angel Dust
4. Velfarre Cyber Trance 4
5. Ayumi Hamasaki Cyber Trance 3
And individual songs
1. Ayumi Hamasaki - Immature (Koglin & Heath remix)
2. Paul Van Dyk - Nothing But You
3. Bennie K - Sunrise
4. Tribalistas - Ja sei Namorar
5. Ride - Close My Eyes
The Viola Returns
As a long time member of the tifosi, this weekend is a time of happiness as
Fiorentina return to Serie A after a few years of turmoil. With players such as midfielders Nakata and Jorgensen, the Viola should be looking to consolidate this season but it is great to see them back in the big time
Music For The Weekend
There is only one ablum to listen to this weekend and that is James Lavelle - Romania 026. Some samples can be found on the
Global Underground website
August Top Songs
It's the August Bank Holiday which means summer is nearly over, but if you play the following five songs to me it will remind me of an August full of rain thanks to the remnants of the hurricanes that caused chaos on America's east coast.
1. Ride - Dreams Burn Down
2. Keane - Sunshine
3. Supercar - Low Down
4. Carcass - Splattered Cavities
5. Wannadies - Skin
Apologies for all the weird formatting going on, just blogger has become 100 times worse since I started using it.
Remember the 90s
It will probably come as no surprise that most of my music taste is firmly entrenched in the 1990s. So to start with I'll choose some songs from 1990 that I have been listening to recently.
1. Ride - In A Different Place
2. Slowdive - Slowdive
3. Pixies - Allison
Actually apart from the entire Nowhere album by Ride these are the only songs from 1990 that I'm actually listening to at the moment!
5 Of The Best
It's not all about idols in Japan, check these five songs out.
1. Supercar - Be
2. Art School - Under My Skin
3. The Brilliant Green - That Boy Waits For Me
4. Dragon Ash - Amploud
5. Rip Slyme - Galaxy
Unless of course you do like idols in which case try these
1. Ayumi Hamasaki - Inspire
2. Rina Aiuchi - Start
3. Mika Nakashima - Seven
4. Ken Hirai - Hitomi wo Jite
5. Aya Matsuura - Your Song Seishun Sensei
Ch Check It Out
Not an entry about the Beasite Boys excellent single but a link to an interesting photo blog site from someone I knew in Osaka. I keep forgetting the URL so don't check it as often as I should and that is one reason why I am recommending it now. It's updated a few times a week with a wide range of photos from Japan, and for those with an eye for the abstract, its a definite recommendation. Click on
Justin and check it out!
